Alumni
Muhammad Taha Naveed
Taha is an undergraduate student at the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Islamabad. He has also worked as a research intern at the Renewable Thermal Lab, University of Alberta, where he worked on the project titled “Thermal Management Systems for High-Temperature Thermal Energy Storage Applications,” under the Mitacs Graduate Research Assistance Award. His research includes the design of Thermal Energy Storage Systems, Heat Exchangers, and Two-Phase Flow Loops for High Heat Flux Applications.
Sobhan Shoaib
Muhammad Soban Shoaib is an undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science at the University of Alberta. He was part of the Renewable Thermal Laboratory in the summer of 2024, working on optimizing liquid-based volumetric solar thermal receivers using a genetic algorithm. Soban is also an avid sports fan and loves to play soccer outside of school.
Owen
Owen is a fourth-year Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Alberta, set to graduate with distinction in May 2025.Owen has gained valuable research experience through his work in the Asphalt Pavement Lab and the Renewable Thermal Lab at the University of Alberta. In the Asphalt Pavement Lab, he contributed to testing and analyzing asphalt samples and studied the impact of axle loads on road strain using KENPAVE software. In the Renewable Thermal Lab, Owen focused on improving mathematical models for simulating temperature distributions in molten salt systems.
